Housing Stability
Key Metric
Access to affordable housing is vital for a healthy and stable community. Unfortunately, Columbus is in the midst of an affordable housing crisis.
Like much of the nation, Columbus is facing an affordable housing challenge created by a perfect storm of factors including increasing housing prices, rising rents, low housing supply and stagnant wage growth. Nearly 20% of owners and 30% of renting households in the Columbus area are cost-burdened, meaning they spend more than 30% of their pre-tax income on housing costs. While slightly improving in recent years, cost-burdened households often have to make tradeoffs with other living expenses and are at risk of becoming housing insecure.

My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.
